Medical practice ‘de Kaap’ is located in a residential area in the city of Utrecht. The practice operates on the basis of anthroposophical medicine. This is expressed in the interior by using warm, natural materials (wood) and colours.
As the practice is relatively small, the spatial relationship between reception and waiting area is delicate. Visual contact is necessary, but it is not desirable that patients overhear what is discussed in the reception. To achieve this, a wooden window frame, filled with clear glass panes alternated with tinted glass, separates the waiting area from the other spaces. To maximize the spatial effect the colours are repeated throughout the practice on specific wall surfaces.
